MyVEGAS App Tips

Do you have a trip to Las Vegas planned? Maybe you’d like to go in the future but aren’t sure where to begin. Either way, you’ll want to know about the myVEGAS app and game as soon as possible so that you can start saving up for free Las Vegas rewards.

This guide is an introduction to myVEGAS. It goes through the basics of myVEGAS, how to start playing, and what it is (and isn’t). We want to be the number one source for myVEGAS app tips.

Let’s go!

What is myVEGAS?

MyVEGAS is a FREE app sponsored by MGM Resorts that lets you earn points that can be redeemed for free stuff in Las Vegas and other cities. There are two main myVEGAS apps: slots and blackjack.

Either app earns you rewards but most people choose to play the myVEGAS slots app because it is more hands off and you can earn rewards faster. We will talk about the myVEGAS slots app throughout this guide, but the blackjack terminology is much the same.

There are two main platforms that you can play myVEGAS on:

  1. Mobile (iOS or Android)
  2. Facebook

It’s extremely easy to download and get started with myVEGAS. Before we show you how to install it, there is some basic myVEGAS app tips and terminology you should know first.

myVEGAS Terminology

These are the terms used throughout this guide and our website. It’s important that you understand them because it can be confusing for new players.

Loyalty Points (LP)

Loyalty Points are gold coins that you earn when playing myVEGAS. Loyalty Points are used to redeem free stuff in Las Vegas.

You earn Loyalty Points for simply playing the game. It’s best not to worry how many LP you have until you have greater than 5,000 and can start looking at what rewards to go after.

Chips

Chips are virtual currency used in the game to bet with. They are marked in purple in the myVEGAS app.

The game starts you off with some chips when you first install it. After that, there are 4 ways to get more chips:

  1. Winning lines in each slot game.
  2. Free chip box which can be opened every 2 hours (small amount)
  3. A daily wheel spin (large amount)
  4. Purchasing chips with real money (100% voluntary and not required)

VIP Status

Your VIP Status gives you a bonus in the number of chips you get inside of the chip boxes or daily spins. There are 7 VIP levels in total:

  1. Turquoise
  2. Amethyst
  3. Opal
  4. Emerald
  5. Sapphire
  6. Ruby
  7. Tanzanite

You can get to VIP Status 3 (Opal) just my playing the myVEGAS app daily. It is not possible to get to VIP Status 4 without spending real life money in the game, which is again 100% not necessary.

You increase your VIP Status by earning MVP points.

MVP Points

MVP Points are earned two basic ways:

  1. Daily wheel bonus
  2. Hourly box bonus

You get a few MVP points for connecting your myVEGAS account to Facebook and also when you purchase bundles from the store.

The two basic ways are enough to get you VIP Status 3, which gives you 30% multipliers on your bonuses.

Level

Your level is your virtual status number in the game. There is absolutely no purpose to the level other than the fact that you are awarded bonus chips and loyalty points for reaching the next level.

If there are any other terms you want us to help you with, comment at the bottom of this guide and we will add them here!

Rewards

Rewards are real life perks in Las Vegas that can be purchased inside the app. You purchase rewards with Loyalty Points. Rewards fall into a few different categories:

  1. Rooms
  2. Restaurants
  3. Shows
  4. Attractions
  5. Casino
  6. Nightlife
  7. Travel
  8. Retail
  9. Special Events
  10. Other

The most common rewards redeemed in the app are free room nights in Vegas, free or discounted vouchers to restaurants, shows, and attractions in Vegas, and free casino vouchers.

myVEGAS App Tips

Our home page has tons of guides and tutorials on myVEGAS, but there are some basic app tips you should know about when playing myVEGAS:

  1. The best myVEGAS app tip is that more spins equals more loyalty points. Try to only bet 1/100 of your total chip count. This will let you spin more times before you run out of chips and let you earn more LP.
  2. Save up loyalty points and worry about rewards later. By focusing your time on playing, you should be able to earn 50,000 or more loyalty points easily.
  3. Play the special events. These promotions offer greater win rates and special chip bonuses.
  4. Maximize your non premium myVEGAS rewards when you travel to Las Vegas. Non premium rewards require you to pay some money out of your own pocket, but are cheap to redeem in the app.

If you have any more myVEGAS app tips, comment down at the bottom of this guide!

What Hotels Are on myVEGAS?

So now that you know what myVEGAS is, where can get free rewards from? All MGM Resorts in Las Vegas are included in the myVEGAS app. These are the:

  1. Mandalay Bay (and the Delano)
  2. Park MGM (and the NoMad)
  3. Signature at MGM Grand (Hidden for some)

Rewards at cheaper hotels such as the Luxor and Excalibur don’t cost as much money as ones from the Aria or Bellagio. As long as you have the loyalty points saved up, you can redeem free vouchers at these locations.

Click on any of the hotel names above to view more information for each property.

Is myVEGAS Free?

myVEGAS is 100% free to play. You can earn all rewards you see in the app without paying a single cent.

Paying real money in the app only has two perks:

  1. Earn loyalty points and MVP points faster
  2. Unlock special multi-night hotel stays

Two Night Hotels Stays Using myVEGAS

Users who choose to spend a certain threshold of real money unlock special two night hotel stays in Las Vegas. Otherwise, you will only be able to redeem single night stays using the app.

The threshold you must spend varies based on how long you’ve been playing and it is not published. From user reviews, there are two levels to unlock: one at around $60 and another around $120.

If you don’t plan on spending money in the myVEGAS app, you don’t have to worry about this at all. For those who do, we are putting together a premium level guide for you in the future.

Does this help you understand what myVEGAS is? What myVEGAS app tips would you recommend?

74 Las Vegas Travel Tips, Advice and Hints

1. Casinos Are Farther Apart Than They Appear

Kind of like a desert mirage, casinos give the illusion of being much closer to each other than they actually are. Plan for ample walking time to get from one casino to the next.

2. Get the Better View

For the best view of the Bellagio fountains, head for the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Strip at Bally’s. The show lasts about 5 minutes and takes place every 15 minutes. Find yourself a good spot towards the end of one display, ready for the next, and you’ll be well positioned for some great shots if you’re a budding photographer.”

3. Money Hungry Tunnel

If you are unfortunate enough to be in the backseat of a taxi who’s driver is trying to pull a fast one, request that they not take the tunnel. This is a well-known Vegas trick among taxi cab drivers to ensure they get the most out of a fair. Sometimes it’s not necessary to go through the tunnel by the airport.

4. Crosswalk Savvy

Las Vegas Boulevard, or simply “the Strip,” is one of the nation’s busiest streets and crossing can be daunting, even dangerous. Be prepared to cross only at designated intersections and use the elevated crosswalks (pedestrian bridges). There are a lot of distractions on the Strip, and if drinking alcohol, your judgment is impaired, so pay extra attention to street traffic.

5. Remember Resort Fees

Don’t forget to calculate resort fees when determining your total hotel cost. Fees can range up to $40 per night.

Most casinos offer free drinks to keep people gambling, so while you’re playing, wait for a cocktail waitress to come and take your order. Tips, however, are expected and welcome.

8. Safeguard Your Stuff

With all the Vegas excitement it’s easy to lose track of your things, i.e. phone, ID, sunglasses, etc. It’s also easy for thieves to take advantage of these prime “lifting” conditions. DO NOT leave anything important in an easy to reach pocket, and don’t set your things down around you, like at a slot machine.

9. See More of Downtown Vegas

The fun in Downtown Las Vegas extends beyond the Fremont Street Experience. Don’t turn around when you reach the end of the Fremont Street canopy at Fremont and 4th. Instead, continue walking and experience Fremont East District, home to some of the hippest bars (Atomic Liquors, The Griffin, Oak & Ivy) and restaurants (eat, VegeNation, Le Thai, Chow) in Downtown Las Vegas. There is even an offbeat shopping center built from shipping containers, complete with a giant praying mantis that breathes fire at night.

Vegas is hot and dry, so when walking the Strip you may not even realize you’re sweating. Always carry water with you and stay hydrated. Signs of heat exhaustion are dizziness, nausea, fatigue and headache.

16. Book Your Hotel, ASAP!

The allure that landed it on television is still alive and well on Sundays. When choosing a pool the other days of the week, there are finer choices.

Something to think about when you want to get around Las Vegas is saving money using taxis. Taxi stands are at every hotel and most businesses around the Strip and Downtown Las Vegas. Most all taxi cabs offer you the convenience of using a debit or credit card to pay your fare. Please know that while this is convenient, it does come with a price! Most cab companies charge $3-$4 extra dollars for this convenience per transaction. Therefore, if you take 10 – 12 cab rides during your Las Vegas vacation, this can be an additional $30 – $48 dollars you will have to pay above the fare. Our recommendation is to always pay cash, which avoid this surcharge. Remember to always tip your driver and never try to hail a cab while on the Strip.

No folding here…photo by Chimpr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ohoski/2235591330/

60. Be Like Kenny Rogers

This tip may seem fairly obvious; however, many visitors find they wish they had heeded the advice. You really have to know when to fold ’em and know when to walk away. After you’ve had a lucky run at the gambling table, know when to pack it in. If you’re down money, it’s safe to give it a couple more hands, but after that you start treading on a slippery slope.

There’s a guided tour for just about anything you might want to do in Vegas. If you want to remove stress and planning from your trip, check first to see if there’s a tour for your desired activity.

67. Out Of Time

Casinos have a great way of not letting you realize what time it is. There are no clocks, anywhere, and artificial light fools your brain to never knowing what time of day or night it actually is. If you have to keep to a schedule, be sure to wear a watch or keep track of time with your phone.

Prices on Holiday weekends are hiked up everywhere and the Strip is really packed. If you can, plan your trip sans holiday or even weekends, for that matter!

70. Ladies – take off those heels

This tip is directed for the lady readers. No matter how fabulous your high heel shoes may be, there will come a time you feel the urge to take them off. It happens all the time. Women, dressed to the nines can be seen walking down the strip barefoot. Pack a small pair of flats or sandals in your purse for later in the evening.

71. Move UBER Taxis. Rideshares Are Taking Over

Taxis in Las Vegas are notorious for shadiness. Uber and Lyft have recently become available in Las Vegas. These companies pride themselves on being like a friendly neighbor giving you a ride. They are often substantially cheaper than a taxi and won’t take you through the tunnel.

72. Scoring free drinks at the sports book

Here is a brief run down on how to increase one’s chances of scoring free drinks at the sports book. I hope this works for you.

TIP! – Money talks, especially in Vegas. If you tip, you can generally expect better service – throwing a dollar or two at the ticket writers when placing a bet usually leads to more drink tickets in sports books that use the drink coupon system.

ASK – Some sports books go out of their way to offer free drink tickets, while others seem to want to keep it a secret. So, just ask…..politely of course.

AVOID CG TECHNOLOGY SPORTS BOOKS – CG Technology race and sports books are classy spots. The HD screens are top notch and the motif of their sports books is sleek, modern, and very well done. But when it comes to free drinks, they do not cut the mustard – comped drinks are non-existent at CG sports books, which include The Venetian, Cosmopolitan, Tropicana, Hard Rock, and a few others.

GO OFF THE BEATEN PATH – Many of the smaller and/or off-strip sports books tend to be more liberal with their comps. So, if you are staying at one of these locales, spending time at these sports books may work out just fine as far as free drinks are concerned.

What Is The Best Slot To Play In Vegas

Some favorite spots with liberal free drink policies include: Bellagio, South Point, Westgate, Excalibur, Flamingo and Wynn.

73. Funny Money. No Laughing Matter

When frequenting a gentleman’s club, use cash. Avoid using the club’s ATM as the standard surcharge is between 10-20%. Avoid purchasing lap dances on your credit card. When you use your credit card, you will be given funny money to give to the entertainer. Sometimes clubs will charge your card without your knowledge especially if they recognize you’re buzzed.

74. Warning: Vegas Is Addictive!

You may very well get hooked after you first Vegas trip, so while you’re there, start planning your next trip! Keep a running list of where you absolutely want to revisit, and what you’d didn’t have a chance to discover, but will next time!
